Thus, it was the ideal natural stone for our LIBRE collection which includes many Carnelian jewelry pieces. To create this unique jewellery collection, Veronique wanted a stone with a vibrant colour to welcome summer and to reflect the name of her collection, which means freedom in French. The result is fantastic carnelian rings, necklaces and earrings, sometimes mixed with freshwater pearls, sometimes enhanced by a beautiful shape.

Amazonite

Blue Amazonite made its debut in our first stone-incorporated collection, Luceo, at Véronique Roy Jwls and continues to be cherished today. You can find it featured in our simple and elegant Selene and Rhea pieces.

Named after the Amazon River due to a mistaken belief of its discovery in that region, Amazonite belongs to the feldspar mineral family. However, studies have shown that it does not naturally occur there and was confused with another mineral. Amazonite can be found in Brazil, Peru, China, Colorado and Virginia in the United States, Australia, and Madagascar.

When polished, Amazonite exhibits stunning green or blue hues, making it highly popular in jewelry. This vibrant gemstone also possesses healing properties. Its range of green to turquoise shades, reminiscent of the sea, emanates an aura of relaxation, aiding in the healing of internal wounds.

Aventurine

Veronique Roy Jwls skillfully incorporated green aventurine into simple and elegant necklaces and earrings. The SeleneVenus and Ara aventurine earrings, and into the Rhea aventurine necklace, provides a modern touch to this classic gemstone.

Aventurine, a type of quartz belonging to the oxide group, derives its name from the Italian phrase "a ventura," meaning "by chance." It acquired this name when an Italian from Murano accidentally stumbled upon the stone. Aventurine comes in various colors, such as green, blue, peach, brown, and white. For the Celts, this stone symbolized spiritual knowledge. In lithotherapy, Aventurine is renowned for aiding self-discovery, absorbing negative energy, clarifying thoughts, and stimulating creativity.

Blue Lace Agate

Several pieces from our Luna collection feature Blue Lace Agate, which is one of our favorite types of Agate. We love its gentle colour and delicate lace-like patterns.

The name "Agate" is derived from the Achates River, where it was initially discovered. The Celts and Egyptians valued this stone for its virtues and natural beauty. During that time, it was common to see Agate worn as jewelry due to its wide range of beautiful colours and patterns.

Agates possess protective properties, repelling negative external influences and reducing the effects of stress. They also promote harmonious social interactions by soothing both the body and mind.

Jade, Nephrite Jade and White Jade

At Veronique Roy Jwls, we love incorporating white Jade into our minimalist and sophisticated jewelry, like the Selene, Venus and Ara white jade earrings, or the minimalist white jade necklace, Rhea. Veronique recently added Canadian Nephrite Jade to her gemstone jewelry collection, check out the stunning Eleanor ring with Canadian Nephrite Jade.

Jade derives its name from "la piedra de ijada," which translates to "stone of the flank" and was coined by the Spanish conquistadors. The name refers to the healing powers associated with this stone. Jade is an exceptionally durable and robust stone that has been used since the Stone Age to create tools, weapons, sculptures, bangles, and jewelry. There are two types of Jade: nephrite and jadeite. Jadeite, the more precious variety, is commonly used in jewelry and can be found in various colours, including green, red, pink, black, brown, white, and even violet.

When in contact with the wearer, Jade is believed to facilitate harmonious relationships by nurturing compassion and acceptance.

Onyx

At Véronique Roy Jwls, we have a fondness for working with onyx to create high constrat jewelry. You'll find it featured in many of our pieces, as we adore its versatility and distinct color.

The Onyx gemstone gets its name from the Greek word "onux," meaning "nail." Legend has it that while Venus was asleep, Eros cut her fingernails with an arrowhead before flying away. Onyx is a type of Agate and belongs to the chalcedony family. It can be translucent or opaque, with the opaque variety appearing either black with white stripes or solid black. Onyx is a durable stone, scoring 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness, which means it can withstand scratches from everyday wear and tear.

Due to its dark color, Onyx is highly appreciated and commonly used in jewelry. It is known for bringing stability and strength to the wearer, providing support during times of mental and physical stress.

Rose Quartz

We adore rose quartz for its soft and vibrant color. You'll find it featured in many of our rose quartz jewelry, like our natural rose quartz earrings, Selene, and Venus designs, which highlight the beauty of this stone through simplicity, and in our bestseller, the natural rose quartz pendant necklace, Rhea.

The term "Quartz" refers to a group of minerals sharing the same chemical composition and similar physical properties. Its name originates from the Saxon word "Querklufterz," meaning "transverse ore vein." Quartz is a crystalline mineral composed of silica and can be categorized into macrocrystalline and microcrystalline quartz. There are 18 different types of quartz, and it is available in a variety of colors, ranging from translucent to white, brown, black, purple, blue, pink, green, and yellow. This crystal has been used in jewelry making for thousands of years and remains very popular today.

When worn, quartz is believed to promote peace, love, calmness, and tenderness. It enhances the feeling of love and aids in the healing of both physical and emotional wounds.
